Nicole has the blood test and CT scan results.
Two tumor markers are out of range and have increased from the last test.
CA 19.9 is 60.4
CA 125 is 52.3
Nicole was expecting an increase in the tumor marker as she has stopped the chemo treatment since last April.
The CT scan shows no deterioration in her condition. The lesions in the liver and the rib bone have shrunk. The tumor in her lower abdomen is still there but has not increased in size.
Dr. Karmen Wong gave her two alternatives, since surgery has been ruled out by the surgeon:
1. Do nothing, with a risk that the tumor might grow again and treatment could be complicated, and
2. Radiation therapy to shrink the tumor further and hopefully nib it completely, with side effects to the surrounding organs.
After consultation, Nicole decided to do nothing. She informed Dr. Karmen Wong that she is now following an alternative treatment prescribed by Dr. Gonzalez. Dr. Wong was very understanding and respected the decision of Nicole. She added that she would like to see the effects of this alternative treatment. We agree that Nicole will have a blood test in two months time.
The CT scan confirmed that the gallstones that Nicole had in her gallbladder have been flushed out. This is the result of the liver flush that she did some 10 days ago. Well one of the treatments of Dr. Gonzalez worked.
We continue to pray God as we enter this new territory in our life journey.
