We are still at Hufeland Clinic. Nicole started a new therapy. This consists of lowering her blood sugar level to below 40 reading and then administer a mild form of chemotherapy. She has been doing this during the last two weeks. She had a CA 125 test yesterday. Unfortunately this new treatment does not seem to be working. The CA 125 increased from 140 to 190, a jump of 30%.
We are going to meet with Dr Demuth. It is most likely that he will change his approach.
In my opinion, Nicole has a very virulent form of cancer. This was mentioned to us at the start of her illness. In addition, the aggressive chemotherapy administered earlier might have caused the cancer cells to developed resistance to treatment. Thus the pancreatic enzymes are not being as effective as they would be and Dr Gonzalez cannot explain why the cancer is progressing even with his treatment. The same thing seems to be occurring here. The treatment at Hufeland is working with other patients. We are seeing patients leaving the clinic with much improvement in their conditions.
During our last meeting with Dr Demuth, he mentioned that, being a patient here, Nicole needs to be patient. She needs to give her body time to start the healing process.
Nicole is of opinion to continue treatment here as there is no other alternative. Dr Gonzalez would not offer any new approach. She does not want to have intensive chemotherapy as this will destroy her immune system.
