Singapore Friday Jan 26 - 21.45 hrs
Nicole started the day on a very good spirit. She was full of energy and she even prepared her morning juice. We enjoyed a nice breakfast. She had a good session with Bob.
Then we ventured by going to have dim sum at the American Club. We all enjoyed a good meal, but Nicole was feeling tired very quickly and we decided to return home.
At 16.00 hrs we had the pleasant surprise to have the visit of Peter Ng and Father Lawrence. Fr Lawrence is here to give a retreat to the Christian Meditation Community of Singapore. It was both a very moving get together as well as relaxed moment for us. Peter was very understanding and Father Lawrence brought both the human and spiritual dimension. We all joined hands to pray together.
In the evening we had Pascal over at our place and we celebrated a good week. In case you wonder how we did it. We had a nice bottle of white wine - Bob, Pascal and I. Nicole is not allowed to drink! Terrible lah!
I can feel the effects of the chemotherapy on Nicole. She has mood swings, at times being very irritable, impatient and wanting to be alone. I am happy that the oncologist mentioned these possible side effects to us before and I am in a position to understand and support her. Certainly she is not in a mood to meet people during the chemo treatment. I reassure her that she can be as she wants to be. Bob is also encouraging her to express what she feels like doing and helping me to understand her and explain to callers and visitors that Nicole is not in a mood to meet visitors or to talk to callers. I hope you all understand that when you call, I might tell you that she is not in a mood to talk.
We are both grateful for all your support, understanding and prayers. We thank you for your love.
We are encouraged by what we heard from doctors from the US. They spoke to our Singapore oncologist and they concur with the treatment prescribed. They even are more positive advancing that the tumor will shrink. However, they are more interested to know the speed of the shrinkage. Apparently this is crucial.
All in all today has been a positive day. Nicole is in a much improved state, though she still suffers from pain.
We both thank Mary, mother of our Lord for Her prayers, as we both ask Her to pray for us.
We thank the Lord for walking by our side and carrying us when we are in despair.
Finally, we thank our Father who is Love whom we experience through all of you.
